Lighting leopard geckos

Leopard geckos are primarily nocturnal and so they don’t need supplemental lighting unlike some species (bearded dragons for instance). As long as you keep your leopard gecko in a room which is well lit in the day and dark at night it will be fine. Leopard geckos need these dark/light cycles in order to establish the photoperiod and thus the time of year. This helps them sort their “body clocks” and know when to do certain things (feed, breed, etc).
